Most of us first met Deborah Chandler as beginning weavers through the pages of her classic book, Learning to Weave. Her latest book Traditional Weavers of Guatemala was released about a year ago and is beautiful gem of a book.
A former member of CHH, Deborah is coming all the way from Guatemala where, for 20+ years, she has worked with the traditional Mayan wavers and is the director of Mayan Hands. https://weavingfutureswithdc.wordpress.com/
Her visit to the conference highlights the beautiful book she recently co-authored, Traditional Weavers of Guatemala. In addition to giving the keynote address on Friday night, Deborah will be offering two seminars on Guatemala’s weavers and textile traditions. Her conference classes will cover the varied and colorful textile traditions of Guatemala, as well as some great stories that didn’t make it into the book.
