New  Evening Programs Offered This Year!

The new location at John Newcombe Tennis Ranch isn’t the only update to CHT Art Camp this year. Now you now have some new class options!

First new feature are the Evening Programs. The programs are simple, undemanding and fun! Two classes are offered each evening in the main gathering area. These do not require registration and are free or very inexpensive (maximum supply fee is $5).

The classes offer new skills, such as spinning with a drop spindle, crochet, and needle felting with edge beading. In most of the programs, you make a simple item to take home, such as a fabric or mesh necessity bag, an origami wreath or a small jewelry pouch.

Please plan on getting into your comfy pajamas, bringing your beverage, including wine, and joining both classes each night. Of course, you are welcome spend the evening working on other projects or just sitting with your friends. Art Camp is laid back. On Sunday, our last night, we will have s’mores by fire pit next to the pool.

Do you want time to work on a special project or just time to spend with your Texas weaving friends?

You may want to know that we are offering “Independent Study” as a daytime class option. Look for this option when you register starting on November 15th. You can work on anything with the exception of wet activities such as dying or felting.

There is ample space in the main conference meeting room for you to weave, spin, make a garment, complete all your finish work, wind warp, plan a project, analyze weave structures, experiment with a new weave structure or practice the crochet stitch you learned the night before. You will be required to bring your own supplies and equipment. Your friends and fellow weavers can act as resources for you during breaks, meals and the evening social time. And, if you prefer to sunbathe or swim during the day this can be woven into your independent study time as well!
If you wish to attend CHT Art Camp and not take one of the four offered classes please select Independent Study when you register. Everything else remains the same. It is that simple.
