MARY ZICAFOOSE TO GIVE LECTURE at HOUSTON MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
Internationally recognized artist and tapestry weaver, Mary Zicafoose, will present a public lecture at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts on March 16, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. The lecture is being held in conjunction with the MFAH exhibition Colors of the Oasis: Central Asian Ikats, which will run from March 11 through June 4, 2017. Mary’s lecture will touch upon the process of Ikat and her own contemporary work using the Ikat technique.
In addition to her visit to Houston in March, Contemporary Handweavers of Texas will be welcoming Mary to our Biennial conference this spring. She will teach three classes and will give a lecture entitled “The Power of Cloth” at a special event dinner on Saturday, June 3. Texas fiber artist are fortunate to have so many chances to learn from this extraordinary weaver in 2017.
