About CHT Conference
CHT Conference is organized biennially in odd-numbered years to support the organization’s purpose – to promote interest in handweaving and related crafts for its individual members and guilds throughout Texas. The conference allows members to get to know each other, build new skills, and develop or extend interests while playing with fiber!
CHT Conference offers hands-on workshops, classes, lectures and seminars for fiber artists of various skill levels on a variety of topics. It offers members the chance to get away from their daily routine and pursue new ideas on their artistic journey, all while being immersed in a supportive and fun environment.
Conference is generally held at the end of May, beginning of June of odd-numbered years. Planning begins at the end of the previous conference, and is overseen by a volunteer assuming the role of Conference Chair, and assisted by volunteer members of the Conference Committee.
A major component of CHT Conference is our members’ exhibit, which is open to the public. Our juried exhibit provides a opportunity for our members to show their best work, receive feedback, and share in their accomplishments with their fellow artisans. A highly anticipated aspect of our exhibit is the fashion show, where members get to show off the drape and movement of their wearable art on the body.
Additional excitement (and a little friendly competition) is planned with raffled gift baskets, auctions, door prizes and exchanges.
We hope you will join us for our next conference!

We Love Our Volunteers
The CHT Conference and Art Camp are planned and organized by a team, but need attendees to serve as volunteers during the events. When our members join us as part of the team then things run smoother, instructors have support, the doors to the Exhibits and our Vendor Hall stay open, people connect, and everyone has a better, more engaged experience. All because someone says, “Yes”.

Scholarships
Because CHT’s mission is to support individuals and guilds in Texas through education and networking about the history, the craft, the art, fashion and innovation in weaving, spinning and related fiber arts techniques, CHT has committed to provide financial scholarships to our members.
The scholarship opens the door to opportunities to learn more about weaving, spinning, and related fiber arts techniques and share that knowledge with the CHT community.
