When we weave, we are in a constant process of connecting. We connect with our brains and eyes when we design a new project and select materials. We connect our bodies with our looms when we warp the loom, treadle the pattern and throw the shuttle. And most importantly, we connect to the larger family of weavers; through our guilds and through the vast network of online resources and social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. And, we are always inspired by color!
Come join Contemporary Handweavers of Texas for our biennial conference, WEAVING CONNECTIONS, to celebrate and honor the connection between weavers and experience the excitement of color in weaving!
Featuring our keynote speaker, Kathrin Weber.

I can’t find the registration/entry form on the website.
Various forms and buttons only become available on the website at the opening of registration on Feb 1, 2025. At that time only members that joined or renewed prior to Dec 31, 2024 and that are logged in will be able to access the Conference registration form, Fashoin Show and Exhbit entry forms, and Members’ Exchange entry form.
- If you are not seeing registration and entry forms, your first step is to make sure you are logged in.
- If you still don’t see the buttons, or the page looks weird, try using a private browser window (preferred), or clear your browser cache (more drastic).
- The easiest method is to get a private window that doesn’t use your stored browser history. To do so, for most browsers on a PC press Shift + CTRL + N, on a Mac Press Shift + ⌘ + N, for Firefox substitute P for N. For iPhones, iPads, Android, tablets – Safari, Chrome
- More difficult, and this will remove history and cause re-entering passwords on other sites, but clearing your browser cache will eliminate old data in your browser that interferes. Here are instructions for clearing various browser caches: Safari on iPhone, Safari on Mac, Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, Internet Explorer.
I can't log in or I forgot my password.
I want to join CHT, but the website won’t let me

Members' Exchange
Towels
When I think of connections, I think of family. My weaving family are the people in my guild. I have learned so much from the members of my guild and they have pushed me to become a better and more adventuresome weaver.
For this exchange, think of what you have learned from a guild program, mentor, workshop, etc. and design a towel using the CHT logo colors listed below. When you have woven your towel, write a paragraph telling what you learned and how you used it in your design.
Some ideas could be using a structure, use of color sequences, loom set up or anything else.
What: a kitchen towel
Size: about 30”X 20” finished including the hem
Fiber: cotton
What will happen with it: You go home with as many towels as you enter.
CHT Logo Colors: If you want to incorporate the conference colors, here they are!
How do I participate?
- Use the guidelines outlined to develop your design.
- Weave it!
- You MUST complete the Towel Exchange Entry form by May 1, 2025 to participate in the exchange. The form will go live for logged in members when registration begins.
- Bring your towels to the conference! Towels will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall, and the Members’ Exchange will take place Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 5:30 pm.
Looking forward to seeing all of the beautiful towels at the conference!

Get Involved in the 2025 CHT Conference: Weaving Connections
The 2025 CHT Conference, centered around the theme “Weaving Connections,” is a great opportunity to showcase your work. Whether you’re an experienced artist or new to the craft, the Members’ Exhibit and Fashion Show offer a platform for you to share your creations.
What to Submit
This year’s categories include:
Weaving, Spinning, Dyeing, and Felting: Show your skills in these core techniques. Submit anything from intricate woven designs to felted pieces.
2D and 3D Art: Create 2D or 3D art using any of the listed techniques. This could be a wall hanging, sculpture, or mixed media piece.
Household and Utilitarian Textiles: Display your work in everyday objects like handwoven towels, felted rugs, or dyed tablecloths.
Wearables for the Fashion Show: Submit garments, accessories, or experimental fashion pieces to be featured on the runway.
Keep in mind that your entry form will ask for a weaver’s statement of up to 250 words. The statement will be included on the exhibit label, and may include technical information, your inspiration, or backstory. We love to know how each piece came to be!
Why Participate?
The theme “Weaving Connections” is about exploring the relationships we create through our art. This conference is a chance to share your work with a community that values the craft and to see how others interpret the same theme.
Whether you’re planning to enter the Members’ Exhibit or the Fashion Show, now is the time to start thinking about your submission. Consider what “Weaving Connections” means to you and how you can express that through your art.
We look forward to seeing your work at the 2025 CHT Conference!

We Love Our Volunteers
The CHT Conference and Art Camp are planned and organized by a team, but need attendees to serve as volunteers during the events. When our members join us as part of the team then things run smoother, instructors have support, the doors to the Exhibits and our Vendor Hall stay open, people connect, and everyone has a better, more engaged experience. All because someone says, “Yes”.

Scholarships
Because CHT’s mission is to support individuals and guilds in Texas through education and networking about the history, the craft, the art, fashion and innovation in weaving, spinning and related fiber arts techniques, CHT has committed to provide financial scholarships to our members.
The scholarship opens the door to opportunities to learn more about weaving, spinning, and related fiber arts techniques and share that knowledge with the CHT community.
